The Lexington Park Volunteer Rescue Squad (LPVRS) is delighted to spotlight Chief Ken Hicks, who was recently honored as EMT of the Year by the Knights of Columbus. This achievement reflects Ken’s profound commitment and remarkable journey of service, leadership, and dedication to our community.

After retiring from the United States Navy, Ken's desire to serve led him to LPVRS in 2002, where he began as a driver and soon after an EMT, setting the stage for over two decades of volunteer service. Ken's exemplary leadership journey within LPVRS has evolved through many roles as Vice President, President, and ultimately Chief, demonstrating his commitment to emergency services and the health and welfare of our community.

Ken's influence extends beyond LPVRS through his significant roles on county boards and involvement with the St. Mary’s County Rescue Squad Association, where he serves as Chairman. His dedication to supporting veterans through Vacation for Vets showcases his compassionate service and commitment to those who have served our country.

At the heart of Ken’s story is his family, with whom he shares a deep bond and a legacy of service. Married for 43 years to his devoted wife Sandie and a father and grandfather, Ken’s commitment to community and family exemplifies the values we cherish.

As we celebrate his well-deserved recognition, we continue to be inspired by the impact of his dedication. Ken's story is a testament to the difference one person can make through leadership, service, and a heart for community.

Please join us in congratulating Ken on this prestigious honor. His dedication enhances our emergency services and inspires a spirit of community and volunteerism in us all. Thank you, Ken, for your exemplary service and leadership!
