Shawn Davidson Inducted into Great Mills High School Hall of Fame

The Lexington Park Volunteer Rescue Squad is thrilled to announce that our very own Shawn Davidson has been inducted into the Great Mills High School Hall of Fame during the Graduation Commencement Ceremony on May 31, 2024.

Celebrating a Legacy of Service and Dedication

Shawn Davidson, a 1991 graduate of Great Mills High School, has been a pillar of our community through his love and commitment to public service. Joining the Lexington Park Volunteer Rescue Squad during his high school years, Shawn's dedication to emergency medical services has spanned decades, significantly impacting the local community and the broader field of emergency response.

Career Highlights:
University of Maryland Fire and Rescue Institute (2005): Shawn began teaching, sharing his extensive knowledge in emergency medical services with new EMTs across the state.
Assistant Chief Lexington Park Volunteer Rescue Squad (2007-2009)
Chief of Lexington Park Volunteer Rescue Squad (2009-2019): Under his leadership, the squad saw substantial growth, including a doubling of call volume, tripling of membership, fleet expansion, and construction of a new station.
County EMS Chief for St. Mary's County (2017-present): In this role, Shawn works tirelessly to integrate career personnel into the EMS system, plan for disaster responses, and implement innovative protocols to enhance citizen care​.

Hall of Fame Induction Speech

Shawn reflected on his journey during his induction speech and shared valuable life lessons with the graduating class. He emphasized the importance of self-awareness, community connection, and the power of small acts of kindness. His speech was inspiring and heartfelt, leaving a lasting impression on everyone present.

"Know yourself, be kind, and understand that even small actions can have a ripple effect," Shawn advised. He encouraged the graduates to find strength in their community and to always strive to make a positive impact in the world​​.

Shawn Davidson's induction into the Hall of Fame is a testament to his lifelong dedication to public service and his profound impact on our community. His achievements and leadership inspire current and future generations of volunteers and emergency responders.
